So I know I’ve been absent forever, but now back from Mongolia, slowly adjusting, one foot in front of the other.  HOWEVER, I did shoot some amazing footage over there which I’m beginning to put together.  We were really lucky to get the band Altan Urag to record a soundtrack for the film, which you can play above.  Loved and very well known in Mongolia, they composed music last year for the Academy Award Nominated film Mongol - so as I was saying, BIG DEAL.

Looking forward to putting some footage with this great song.  Now the task is turning 6 hours of footage into 4 mins.  Lemme know what you think!

Been a busy, short week, with Mongolia on Monday, so forgive the lack of posts (Charlie) but do hope all you millions of dedicated readers return…

As a known fan of This American Life, it was bound to happen that I post something from the show, so here we go.

I must say, though, this piece is rather uncharacteristic for the show (and myself) in that it’s rather patriotic - a reminder the freedom that a select few (sometimes) fight for abroad.

So if you can get over Sarah Vowell’s odd voice, there’s a surprisingly moving story here about General Lafayette’s return to the country he help found.  For Americans, it was a joyous return, for Lafayette, a bittersweet one after failed attempts at creating the same revolution in France.

It’s only 8 minutes long, so don’t get your britches in a twist.  I cut it out from Episode 291: Reunited (And It Feels So Good)

Heard this on the radio Tuesday and thought it was well worth a share.  It’s only about 7 minutes long, but has a great This American Life feel to it.

Jacuyra, who was part of the Radio Rookies program at WNYC, turns the mic on herself and the mistakes she’s made growing up in the Bronx.  Unflinching and yet comedic, it’s far more honest of a look than I could ever take at my own life…

More on Jacuyra and WYNC
