Sincerely, John Hughes

Friday, August 07

A repost, but I think one that deserves to be re-posted.  It’s written by a woman who during her teenage years had John Hughes as a pen pal.

Just a great all around story about the impact one person can have on another and a little warning about the insular world of Hollywood.

Bareback Putin

Wednesday, August 05

PutinThis story from the BBC and these images just make me laugh, I can’t help it.  While I’m aware this stunt is not meant for the western world (let’s forget the Brokeback references here), it makes me slightly ill to think that people still fall for such blatent attempts at crafting public image.

Here, let’s show his muscles, here let’s show him in the Siberian wilderness, being kind to young children…AS IF THESE ARE THINGS HE DOES ON A REGULAR BASIS?

To think that anyone would base their thoughts or feelings on such a manufactured stunt - and i’m sure people do - is depressing.

What’s even more hilarious, is that buried at the bottom of the BBC’s story, there seems to be metadata (maybe an alternate title?) that says “Putin the prime ministerial pin-up”.

UPDATE 7/24/09:  The video has been removed from YouTube due to homophobic/harrassing comments made to one of the actors in the film.

My latest short film, shot in Mongolia a few weeks ago.  For more info on the use of the blue khadags on their faces and about the Mongolian Gallery of Modern Art in which it’s currently being exhibited, go here: http://tinyurl.com/l4hmwm

I nominate Diana Ross as guardian.
• Michael Jackson, in his will, referring to his second choice of guardian for his children.  She will always survive.  And always looks so sane

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

So I know I’ve been absent forever, but now back from Mongolia, slowly adjusting, one foot in front of the other.  HOWEVER, I did shoot some amazing footage over there which I’m beginning to put together.  We were really lucky to get the band Altan Urag to record a soundtrack for the film, which you can play above.  Loved and very well known in Mongolia, they composed music last year for the Academy Award Nominated film Mongol - so as I was saying, BIG DEAL.

Looking forward to putting some footage with this great song.  Now the task is turning 6 hours of footage into 4 mins.  Lemme know what you think!
